  • Description: 4-H Camp Palmer Inc. is a modern camping complex nestled away in the woods adjacent to Harrison Lake State Park in Fayette, Ohio. Operated in conjunction with The Ohio State University, and Ohio State University Extension, the camp features complete indoor and outdoor living and recreational facilities. 4-H Camp Palmer Inc. is a 157 acre outdoor education laboratory located outside of Fayette Ohio. Woodlands, old fields, wetland areas, marshes, nature trails and old farm lanes provide diverse environments for a variety of habitats to study and explore. Adventure education courses in High Ropes, ground initiatives, ziplines and other activities provide opportunities for personal self development. A swimming pool, putt putt golf, and athletic fields and courts provide relaxation and recreation. Large lawn furniture and shade trees provide a place to rest.

    Sessions: Registrations are by the director of the group. Contact your group director to register. Archery/Shooting Sports: Students will learn the safe techniques of archery and other shooting sports disciplines under the supervision of a trained instructor. Coaching and encouraging opportunities for students are encouraged while under the supervision and guidance of the instructor. Fire building skills: Working cooperatively students can learn to build a fire for warmth, cooking or campfire presentations. There is also fire building sessions designed to incorporate decision making skills as part of a team initiative. Herpetology: Camp has a collection of reptiles and amphibians to touch and see. Learn the basics about turtles, frogs and snakes. Students will experience the animals at there own comfort level. Canoeing: Learn basic paddle strokes and techniques to navigate a canoe with a partner or two on Harrison Lake State Park. Harrison Lake is adjacent to 4-H Camp Palmer. Wetlands: Get down close to the earth and touch, see and learn about life in the “wetlands”. Study insect life stages and animals that make up this dynamic environment. Be prepared for wet and muddy. Rope Making: Learn the ancient art of three strand rope making using a simple machine. Basic math skills of division, pacing and estimating help students learn mathematical skills in a fun and active way.
