  • Description:

Christchurch School offers fun, engaging, and enriching programs that cultivate the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our campers.

With four fun filled weeks (June 21 - July 18), campers will discover what is in and around the water that surrounds the campus.  Perched atop a hill, in historic Middlesex County, overlooking the majestic waters of the Rappahannock River, Christchurch School has been helping youth begin their journey for the past 90 years.

Your camper will live in an air conditioned dormitory room supervised by our highly trained staff.  Each hall will house 20 campers (double room occupancy) and 3 counselors, with a staff to camper ratio of 1 to 7.  You can be assured your camper's physical and emotional safety is our top priority.

During the day, your camper will enjoy their chosen discipline of sailing, crew, marine science, or fishing with other campers who have chosen the same activity.  New this year, you may choose to do all 4 with our Chesapeake Sampler Camp. In the evening, campers will enjoy traditional camp activities like camp fires, field games, talent show, or end of the week dance.

Summer Camps on the River prides itself on helping campers connect with the community around them.  Every day campers will grow in independence and better understanding of the role they play in the camp community.  This is done through hands-on interactions with coaches, teachers, counselors, and other campers.  Campers discover the world around them and the impact they have on that community, through a greater understanding of environmental impacts and character development.

We look forward to the journey of 2009 Summer Camps on the River and hope that you will choose to spend time with us.  If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Summer Programs.
