    Our offerings for summer 2010

    New England Exploration
The White Mountain School has partnered with our friends at Adventure Treks to offer a spectacular summer experience for 13 and14 year olds. The spectacular outdoor experiences of New England Exploration allow students to develop their sense of adventure and community – while having 16 days of amazingly good times!

    Your Adventure Itinerary
Backpack through White Mountain National Forest
We will teach you everything you need to know during our scenic day hike.  Then, you can choose your level of challenge for our backpacking trip.  You’ll spend four days hiking and camping in the beautiful White Mountains.  You may even learn a bit about the forest along the way.  We’ll cross rivers, explore the rugged mountain landscape, and camp in pristine areas.

Rock Climbing in Legendary Franconia Notch and Rumney
Spend 2 full days rock climbing; one at each of these legendary climbing areas.  Both located in northern New Hampshire, they have 1000’s of fantastic climbs for rock climbers of all ability levels.

Mountain Biking on The Kingdom Trails
We will enjoy 2 days on the #1 rated mountain bike trail network (by Bike Magazine) in the North America!  These trails are perfect for beginners, as well as advanced riders.

White Water Rafting on The Kennebec River
We take our journey over the next border and head to Maine’s Kennebec River.  Our first day we will learn to paddle our own sit on top kayaks starting in class I and II water before moving on to exciting class III sections.  We will spend the night on the river and the next morning switch our kayaks for rafts to take on the infamous class IV Gorge and many other exciting rapids.

    Summit Mount Washington
This trip ends climactically, as we take a day to head up to our base camp on the highest mountain in the northeast.  The following morning we make an alpine start for the summit of this spectacular peak.

    Appropriate Challenge
These trips are suitable for students with little or no previous outdoor experience, as well as those seasoned in the ways of outdoor trips.  Each student is offered the opportunity to choose different levels of challenge for each activity.  A positive attitude and open mind are the two key ingredients to a great adventure.  Students should be in good physical shape and ready to take on new challenges.

    Ultimate Northeast

The White Mountain School has partnered with our friends at Adventure Treks to create the ULTIMATE trip in the Northeast.  Students age 15 and 16 will find that one day they are hiking the majestic Long Trail in Vermont, the next rock climbing at world renowned Rumney, and then on a multi-day rafting trip.  We participate in the best of Northeastern activities.  You will quickly discover why Ultimate is the only name that works!

    Your Adventure Itinerary
    Backpack Vermont’s Long Trail
This is the oldest long distance hiking trail in the US.  You will discover why it inspired the creation of so many others.  Some days will be spent strolling through lush green hills, while others we will be scrambling around rocks on our way to spectacular views and beautiful campsites.

Rock Climbing at Rumney and Echo
Spend 2 full days rock climbing; one at each of these legendary rock climbing areas.  Both located in northern New Hampshire, they have 1000’s of fantastic climbs for rock climbers of any ability level.

    Kayak Northern New Hampshire
Spend 2 days working with The White Mountain School’s kayak staff to learn the basics of whitewater kayaking from The White Mountain School’s ACA certified staff!

    Backpack Maine’s 100 mile Wilderness
We continue north to Maine’s pristine100 mile wilderness section of the Appalachian Trail.  Here some groups will explore Gulf Hagass, “the grand canyon of the northeast” as well as numerous waterfalls along our route.  We will have the time to reflect on our journey and splash around in picturesque lakes after fun filled days on this remote section of the Appalachian Trail.

Multi-day Whitewater Rafting Trip in Maine’s Wildest Whitewater
As we exit Maine’s 100 mile wilderness, we are at the West Branch of the Penobscot River.  This class II-V rafting has spectacular views of Katahdin, if you can take your eyes off the huge water long enough to enjoy them.  We will spend 2 nights camping in beautiful spots along this remote river.  This ride is truly wild and exhilarating!

    Summit the Northeast’s Highest Peak
We take a day to head up to our base camp on Mt. Washington.  From there, we make an alpine start for the summit of this spectacular peak.

Students should be in good physical shape and ready to take on new challenges
